Commonly used aluminium alloy grades in plate form include:

  • 1000 Series: 99% or higher aluminium content; known for high corrosion resistance and excellent conductivity. Ideal for chemical and food processing industries.

  • 2000 Series: Alloyed with copper; it boasts high strength and is prevalent in aerospace applications due to its excellent machinability and fatigue resistance.

  • 3000 Series: Primarily alloyed with manganese; recognized for good corrosion resistance and formability, widely utilized in the beverage packaging industry.

  • 5000 Series: Containing magnesium; offers remarkable weldability and corrosion resistance, making it popular in marine applications.

  • 6000 Series: Alloyed with both magnesium and silicon; characterized by medium to high strength, it is often employed in structural applications and construction.

  • 7000 Series: Typically having zinc alloying elements; these are high-strength materials predominantly used in sports equipment and military applications.

  4. Thermal Conductivity: Certain grades, like the ones from the 1000 series, offer high thermal conductivity, making them excellent candidates for applications in heat exchangers and effectively conducting heat away from delicate components.
